In the rubble of the World Trade Center were found belongings and cameras of Bill Biggart, containing about 300 photographs intact.
As every serious photographer in New York, Bill Biggart took their cameras on September 11, 2001 and moved quickly to the city center to record images of the nightmare that unfolded before their eyes. But unlike his companions, Biggart did not come home. Other photographers came shrouded in smoke from the towers of the World Trade Center that morning, but Biggart - veteran photographer who has worked in many war zones, Northern Ireland to the Persian Gulf - felt the need to bring a little more.
Biggart died when the north tower collapsed, and became the only professional photographer to lose his life that day. Miraculously, when his body was recovered days later, were also found its three cameras, containing about 300 photographs intact.
Biggart's work is available in an online publication called Digital Journalist ( Here ) dedicated to showcasing the work of many photographers who, like Biggart, risking their lives to tell a story.
