An exhibition entitled "Rodchenko photographer" is on display until January 3, 2010, the Fundacion Canal in Madrid, featuring 125 photographs taken between 1920 and 1940 by Alexander Rodchenko, one of the greats of Russian avant-garde, which left a deep mark on photographic language. The great master Rodchenko was not only one of the great figures of the Avant-Garde, was also one of the most versatile and brilliant artists. After being hailed internationally as a painter, writer and graphic artist, he turned to photography in the early '20s, shortly after the Russian Revolution. In his diary published in 1934 he wrote: "I want to make completely believable photos, photos that never existed until now, pictures that are so true they are life itself. I want them to be so simple and yet so complex that will shock and impress people around the globe. If I achieve this, oh yes, the picture may begin to be considered a high art form. " Born in St. Petersburg, studied at the Kazan Art School. There he met the poet Mayakovsky Vladimior (with whom he worked) and the Russian Futurists. It was in high school who also met his great love Varvara Stepanova, a lifelong companion and partner in several studies. Rodchenko died in 1956.
