The week link PEF indicates that the short film Father, police, Talita Virginia . Tracey began shooting when he was 16 years (now she is 23). At the time, attended a photography course in an NGO in the neighborhood where she lives, Pirajussara Park in Sao Paulo. Then she discovered that there was a school of photography and, through a grant from Prouni, managed to do an undergraduate Senac.

At the end of 2009, Tracey graduated. The work was presented by her father, police - a short film about his own father. According to Tracey, "the theme is not the greatest family in the suburbs, but a cop who tries to support his family in this place and this profession."

We spoke with Tracey about this job, and a piece of the story you read here:

"When I started studying photography, even before college, I noticed a recurring theme was the periphery. I also noticed that 99% of these jobs were superficial, and maintained the periphery as exotic place, instead of trying to show what kinds of social relations permit it to exist. I was kind of pissed at that and thought what if the periphery was seen by those who live in it. I started researching how the work of the Observatory of Slums. Then I thought that if I was in college attending a college for free, my duty was to combine the knowledge acquired there, with the fact that I live in the same periphery. Then I saw that my lens could get back to my own family.

This experience gave me the certainty that the great works of intimacy or conflict arise with a particular theme. The work brought me closer to my father, but also brought up issues not very comfortable, family-related. This sometimes gave me a 'goat' work, and I walked away from research, but she never stopped. Not done yet, actually. Every time I think I'm coming in late, opens up new directions and I dive back into it and swim in my new conflicts.

After all this, I never want to shoot my family! It is very stressful to deal with it. I was not just dealing with my family was dealing with myself. What did this work, no self-portrait could do ... "
