2005-510117385-5 is the final part of the book and namesake project created by Rosangela Renno , which will be launched on Saturday (20:02), from 17h in the Imperial Palace in Rio The project was one of ten selected by the Art Call and Heritage 2009, an initiative of IPHAN through the Imperial Palace, with the sponsorship of Petrobras.
2005-510117385-5 The idea was born after the theft occurred at the Biblioteca Nacional in Rio in 2005. Of the 750 photographs stolen, only 101 were recovered. From there, Rosângela developed the project, which has resulted in an album and release offset. The title is the number of criminal investigation was opened to investigate the crime.
The artist developed an artist's book project to be developed in two different formats - one with features of the album, with loose boards, large format and a limited edition, and the other in offset, with a circulation of 500 copies to be distributed in major libraries in the country.
Rosângela not worked playing the front of the stolen images, but rather the reverse. Furthermore, the shape of boards is also part of the speech: he was made to "wait" for the return of new photographs if more images, among which were stolen, are returned.
Following, read the text written by the Rosângela on 2005-510117385-5:
Sometime between April 2 and July 14, 2005, during a strike by employees of the National Library, 946 pieces, including 751 photographs were stolen from the room Aloísio Magalhães, a place known as Division Iconography of BNF. There was no sign of forced entry. The authors of the theft worked with subtlety, choosing authors and topics, emptying albums, substituting photographs for that crime was only discovered some time later. After four years with an ongoing criminal investigation, only 101 of these photographs were recovered, and all of them were found mutilated, as the criminals tried in various ways, delete the registration marks worth of BNF. The number 2005-510117385-5 criminal investigation has not yet been completed and the mentors of the theft were not punished.
Some months before the strike and stolen, another sector of the BNF was the victim of a coup of another kind: the Laboratory of Scanning Photos and BNF were stolen from the main computer hard drives, which had been filed in all digital reproductions of the acquis Division of Iconography. Likewise, no trace was left at the crime scene, the authors of the theft were not found and no one was punished. The two crimes were never officially listed.
This book, entitled 2005-510117385-5 as the police investigation, contains reproductions of photographs recovered from 101 lines in size, sorted according to date of their return in the collection of the Division of Iconography of BNF.
