Photographer in the World Press Photo prize is eliminated by manipulating image

The jury of the World Press Photo today announced the elimination of the Ukrainian photographer Stepan Rudik, who received third place in the category "Sports Features" with a series of photographs entitled "Street Fighting" award announced last February 11 in Amsterdam. The jury suspected that the photographer has violated the rules of the contest and after requesting the images in RAW file, it became clear that Stepan Rudik manipulated photographs of removing an element of an image. By the standards of the World Press Photo, just touches that are allowed to adjust to currently accepted standards. In the opinion of the jury, the photographer has exceeded "the limits of what is acceptable practice." Eliminated, the number of Rudik will not be part of the annual catalog and exhibition organization that performs throughout the world with the winning photographs. The series has been removed from the official competition website.
