The poetry of Lucille Kanzawa
Kanzawa Lucille writes that when the phone rang and the other end could hear an incomprehensible Japanese, she quickly deduced that it was someone from the community in search of his father. Account writer Diogenes Moura that photo, plus a language is a symbol for not forgetting. Convergence affective, photography and memory have always gone together, and gain space in this book, reminiscences of a family life, a particular society and the existence of a photographer.
The author, who cling strongly to their ancestry, also traveled the world in the many years flying as a commissioner. But for this edition, on the eastern Yuba peculiar society, in São Paulo, leaned over 7 years, among other trips to Morocco or India, contributions to defunct magazine Earth. It was this same publication that would bring his first essay on the community, even in 2004.
The Japanese Isamu Yuba, 19, arrived in Brazil in 1926. After 9 years, bought 40 acres of land in Guaraçai, and formed a community based on precepts interesting, created by his grandfather in Japan Yuba Saizaburu 19th century. The goal? An agricultural area with no owners and no money circulating.
The experience did not work with the founder, but the grandson gathered about 300 people and form, then the largest farm in Latin America. In 1956, the group split. Isamu and over 90 people moved into the neighborhood First Alliance, in rural Mirandópolis, the city where the photographer was born. Today there are only 61 remaining in the collective experience of its founder, who died in 1976.
Being obvious, you can not disassociate the convergence of tradition in the work of photographer of his own pathos. After all, his contact with the community occurred when he was a child, and his father, a physician, attended by the followers of Isamu 44 years free. The search for closeness is inherent in the ancient East and is represented in his art so multiple, either through economic lines of the haiku in the Ukiyo-e woodblock prints or photographs in yesterday and today.
But do not be fooled by the documentary record explicit, for there is much construction in this beautiful book. As a genre tanka poem, composed of phonemes planned, the structure is also of Yuba. Starting with the cover in its graphic design, paper and different titles recorded on anagram and the Latin alphabet, as well as translation of texts into Japanese is the end to the beginning, with monochrome and color images amalgamating information and poetry in rare harmony.
How stanzas, the activities take place in order to a crescendo. Just as it is extraordinary that a shamisen take such harmony in so few strings, a small community pays the photographer in just over 60 images an interesting read, translated in their daily life in their domestic intimacy, in sports, work, living in fine art and portraits.

Lucille realizes a dream whose maturation was lonely, overcoming adversity, submitting to evidence that she ever imagined in this way there ... Your potential is endless, as well as its sensitivity, which can make written and iconographic symbols interact so beautifully and magnificent. Lucille was an honor to accompany you, although a few streets away and with time, follow your path ... Your father does not even have words to express pride that also feels at the moment! Congratulations! Mag and Victor Hiero
Whenever we speak of Yuba once again, is to know of possibilities. Lucille helps to remember that this opening up spaces for the future. His photographic work is poetry and cinema.
Needless to say all that Lucille does is done with perfection. I am proud to be your friend. I wish much success.
