Consequences

I'll never forget the advice my friend gave me when Schneider in 2005, blocked my ex-hook up on MSN and in life (because he had stayed with my "best" friend): "Ivi, this guy needs to understand that things have consequence. " Ok, sounds simple, but most of the times we are in action and, before realizing the cause-and-effect of our actions, we are already busy with other things. Here we see nothing.

And that conversation-mole-cheap-self-help is to ask a question: what other evidence should be given to a work that speaks of the effects caused by climate change in the world? The Dutch agency NOOR went straight to the consequences that matter - the job name to edit the images. Why yes, darling, everything has a consequence - and bad things of them can result in pretty things. As is the case.

A NOOR, which is based in Amsterdam and has existed since 2007, participates in Paraty in Focus 2010 with an exhibition and an interview .

For the show, they bring exactly this work, Consequences: 95 photographs will be exhibited at the Tent of the Matrix. The series was born in the middle of last year, inspired by the discussions on the Copenhagen Conference. Consequences was developed by nine of the 10 photographers who are part of NOOR: Nina Berman, Juan Grarup, Jon Lowenstein, Philip Blekinsop, Yuri Kozyrev, Kadir van Lohuizen, Stanley Greene, Pep Bonet and Francesco Zizola.

They went through India, Russia and Siberia, Africa, Poland, Maldives, Canada, Brazil and British Columbia - which resulted in so far 800 images. The "far" is because NOOR consider this a work in progress - ie continue photographing the consequences of climate change worldwide.

Consequences is on display from 16 to 19 September at Tent Matrix in Paraty. The director and one of the photographers of the PEF NOOR come with the support of the Consulate of the Netherlands. The exhibition has the support of ideas , fitting in the works, and Studio 321, the printing of images.
