Maternal instinct, bullet-proof

"It was a Sunday morning. I was covering a volleyball tournament in Leblon Beach and I heard shots outside the arena. I ran to see what happened and came across a lot of people down to protect itself from a shootout between police and bandits. I took a picture of a mother protecting her son with the body, which yielded the first page of Jornal do Brazil and then the Esso Journalism Award, "Marco Terranova well summed up this incredible blatant done on the sidewalk of Leblon Beach in 1999.
