This beautiful self-portrait by Edward Steichen was published in October 1929 in Vanity Fair. See that it uses a cable release on the left hand. Born in Luxembourg in 1879, he is recognized by many as one of the most creative photographers in the world. He became the photographer for Vanity Fair and Vogue in 1923, serving until 1973. Steichen portrayed great names in literature, journalism, dance, politics and fashion. He directed the department of photography at MOMA in New York, always at the forefront with its pictorial and dreamy portraits, still life (especially flowers) and it applied to the naked fashion photography, dance, drama, reportage, documentary and advertising. Also explored war photography with his portraits of World War I air and natural and urban landscapes. He died in New York in 1973.
