Former student of mathematics at Oxford and photojournalism at the London College of Printing, London, Olivia Arthur English as many of the 80 generation became interested in colonial India and its relations with the United Kingdom. But it went further, and also became involved with social issues in the Middle East. His latest work Beyond the Veil tells the stories of young Iranian women, their relations with the Islamic republic and its implications more contemporary. In the series In the name of God masterfully portrayed the "untouchables" Rammamis central India, prevented from entering temples by Hindu radicals.
In seeking to understand the role of women in society, their human relations arranged between East and West, Olivia Arthur, who was recently admitted as an associate at Magnum Photo, also developed the series The Middle Distance. To talk to this young photographer focused on the future of human interactivity, brought another thinker concerned with these relationships, the curator and professor at FAAP, Georgia Farms. Post-graduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Salamanca in Spain, a region that was strongly influenced by Arabic, Pernambuco Farms specializes in understanding the feminine image in the photograph. His book Man Ray and the Image of Women is a classic in that direction.

When it comes to people, intimacy is key word. Photographing everyday life and enter the perimeter of the other is a big challenge for photographers. Working in intimate spaces, building trust and creating a comfort zone between photographer and photographed? Olivia Arthur, with his experience and a wonderful work around the issue of the woman will visit with students in a group of embroiderers community near Paraty, to photograph their daily lives and record their intimate spaces, with the subtlety, respect and sensitivity are registered trademarks of their production.
